Bordallo Pinheiro is celebrating the grape and its links to southern Europe with its new Uvas (Grapes) collection. Cultivated for centuries in temperate climates such as those of Southern Europe, the production of grapes has played a particularly significant role in Portugal. Over time, grapes and wine have become deeply intertwined with the country’s identity, both through their cultural importance and the economic relevance of wine production.

Inspired by this emblematic symbol, Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro created several pieces depicting vines, grape leaves and clusters of grapes. Among the most remarkable is the suspended grape cluster piece, now reintroduced in a renewed presentation.

Drawing inspiration from this universe, the new grape-themed line by Bordallo Pinheiro celebrates not only the fruit itself, but also the vine and its distinctive foliage.

Building upon Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro’s original suspended piece representing a wine grape cluster, the collection has been expanded to include table grape varieties, both red and white.

Reflecting the brand’s constant desire to innovate and surpass itself, a more geometric — yet still organic — interpretation has been added to the naturalistic approach: a striped pattern of vertical elements evoking the rhythm of a vineyard. This composition of lines in varying thicknesses, hand-painted onto the dinner plate and serving platter — making every piece proudly unique — suggests a vineyard landscape through an intentionally imperfect geometric representation.

The new Uvas collection emerges from the intersection of these different artistic approaches, brought to life through the traditional handcrafted and artisanal techniques that define Bordallo Pinheiro’s legacy.
