Youngest grandchild Bo was diagnosed at three
Beatriz Ball is donating the proceeds from the sale of two decorative pieces to an autism charity, in honour of her grandson Bo.
Bo, now seven, was diagnosed with autism when he was three, and has
inspired the company to adopt autism awareness as their corporate cause.
Beatriz Ball will now donate 100 per cent of the profits from the sales
of two items – a decorative ornament and a key chain – to Autism Speaks
which is the largest autism advocacy organisation in the United Sates.
Bo began kindergarten this year at a charter school in New Orleans.
He spends part of his day in the regular classroom and the other with
his Special Education teacher. He is thriving at school and was making
great progress up until 13 March, when all schools in Louisiana were
closed for the foreseeable future, because of the COVID-19 virus.
Regression for children like Bo can happen very quickly when they
are out of a regular routine and not receiving their regular therapies.
His parents are very thankful for the people who dedicate their lives to
teaching and caring for children like Bo and for organisations which
help create more public awareness about autism.
Beatriz Ball wants to honour and support the millions of individuals and
families in the autism community. April is the World Autism Month and
on April 2 many landmarks around the world will light up blue, for
autism awareness.
