Impact of Brexit on customs: BHETA hosts webinar for members

The British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) hosted a webinar with business service provider, Strong & Herd LLP, recently giving members a detailed update on potential Brexit implications for export and imports.

This was a granular guide to all the implications for all possible outcomes and the need for customs declarations at all points following the possible end to ‘free’ circulation. Bluntly, this could change the definition of export – and conversely import – from anything leaving / entering the European Union to anything leaving / entering UK shores including Northern Ireland.

As the UK awaits the outcome of trade talks, Strong & Herd supplied an illuminating summary of the practical, legislative and taxation implications of possible scenarios and the need to be prepared. This included in depth guidance on Incoterms plus the cost implications for the relevant parties.

BHETA’s marketing manager, Steve Richardson commented, “This was an informative session, which will have been of immense help to BHETA members dealing with import or export.  The fact is we will not know actual implications until the last possible moment, so awareness and preparation is all.”
