Heinen Delfts Blauw celebrates its 50th anniversary this year: half a century of craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and international growth. What began in 1975 at the Spakenburgse Dagen with a simple market stall by founder Jaap Heinen has now grown into the world’s largest producer of Delft blue ceramics.
In Spakenburg, Jaap Heinen laid the foundation for the company fifty years ago, painting porcelain in the Imari style at the market and even fulfilling custom requests: painting flowers on the fabric of traditional Dutch costumes. The popularity grew rapidly, and soon his schedule was booked months in advance. It marked the beginning of a remarkable family business.
Not long after, Jaap established his first workshop in Putten, where the heart of Heinen Delfts Blauw still beats today. At the company’s headquarters in Putten, authentic Delft blue ceramics are still handcrafted by skilled artisans. You’ll also find the unique Lekker Blauw shop café in Putten, where visitors can enjoy the best of both worlds: shopping among beautiful Delft blue collections and savoring delicious regional dishes.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Heinen Delfts Blauw is returning this summer to the place where it all began. During the Spakenburgse Dagen in August 2025, the company will once again have a market stall—just like Jaap Heinen did in 1975. A symbolic moment that adds extra shine to the celebration.
Although Heinen Delfts Blauw now has stores in cities such as Amsterdam, Delft, Curaçao, Bonaire, and the United States, its roots remain firmly anchored in Putten and Spakenburg. The golden anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year with festive promotions—details of which remain a surprise for now and the launch of a special anniversary collection celebrating the roots of the company.
