Studio William is celebrating after scooping more recognition for the Okina and Grove collections.
Fresh from being recognised at the European Product Design Awards, both collections have now picked up Good Design 2020 accolades, this being the third award for Grove Tongs.
The team at Studio William say they are “delighted†with the collection’s success. They identified a need for beautiful design-led tongs and created a range of specialist tongs for enhancing food presentation, for all-day-dining and buffet settings in high end hotels and restaurants. Ergonomic features create positive user interactions, while the organic forms add to the interior presentation and atmosphere of the venue. The collection includes a series of 11 pieces with everything from fruit and breakfast tongs through to sugar tongs.
Meanwhile, Okina Cutlery is the physical embodiment of yin and yang, light and dark. Two contrasting knife designs form part of one contrasting collaboration; the Orient inspired curvaceous knives and the European minimal straight knives. Okina allows restaurants to change the aesthetic of the table setting for lunch and dinner services, though the switching of knife designs, whilst using the same forks and spoons. The fork utensil heads have deep round bowls to collect lots of sauce.
Good Design is the oldest and most important awards program worldwide for new product design. Good Design was established in 1950 in collaboration with The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
