Orrefors X Björn Frantzén; a new wine glass series

Orrefors has partnered with acclaimed chef Björn Frantzén on a new glassware series set to launch this September.


The collection features two versions, one machine-made that is thin and light, suitable for daily use at home or at restaurants, and a second “Handmade Edition” which is mouthblown and exceptionally thin in a crafted design specifically developed to meet the extraordinary requirements on form and function set by world leading restaurants. Orrefors says the series signals the start of the collaboration between the two parties with the joint agenda to combine the best of Scandinavian design and culinary excellence.

Orrefors x Björn Frantzén was developed in close partnership with Björn Frantzén’s world-renowned sommeliers, with the objective to create an inventive and complete glass series worthy of an association with a three-star Michelin establishment.

To accommodate demand from both retail and hospitality, and to make the product offering more suitable and versatile in a wider context, the series comes in two different executions: Orrefors x Björn Frantzén and Orrefors x Björn Frantzén “Handmade Edition”. Both feature six pieces: mature red, red, white, Champagne, beer and water. The machine-made execution includes a seventh piece, All-round, which at the time of the introduction will be offered exclusively to the hotel and restaurant trade.

The design language is characterised by timeless contours closely linked to Orrefors’ impressive history but executed with a modern Scandinavian design approach alongside Björn Frantzén and his team. The subtle and sophisticated aesthetic of the collection makes it relevant and stylish in any environment. The overall elegant impression is further strengthened by the strong emphasis on symmetry whereby all pieces – aside from the beer and water glasses – share the same height. This complete pinnacle glassware series is designed and developed to meet the exceptional standards of both form and function addressing world-class and aspiring dining alike.

Orrefors x Björn Frantzén will be introduced with select retail and HRC partners as well as on orrefors.se on 12 September. Orrefors is the new official and exclusive tableware supplier to all affiliated restaurants and establishments of the Frantzén Group in Sweden and internationally.
