Fürstenberg presents new décor Rêverie, designed by French designer Dimitri Rybaltchenko for the German porcelain manufactory.
The vibrant blue decor Rêverie for the Auréole dinnerware collection depicts clouds in which various animals can be discovered – a tribute to warm summer days spent gazing at the sky, transforming fleeting cloud formations into fantastical creatures. Rêverie is an elegant design full of lightness and magic, inviting daydreams and inspiring captivating conversations at the table.
Butterflies and dragonflies on teacups, polar bears on the sugar bowl, squirrels on the cereal bowl – the hidden animals in the cloud motif of Rêverie are as varied as the imagination itself. Some, like hedgehogs, deer, foxes, or rabbits, live in the forests around Fürstenberg, while others offer small humorous allusions to the dishes and beverages. For example, a lively little weasel adorns the espresso cup, and a calf decorates the milk jug.
“I wanted to create an elegant and dreamy decor. We have all dreamed while looking at clouds. The idea was to bring this childhood experience back to life with elegant lightness, to dream, to escape, to be weightless,” explains Dimitri Rybaltchenko, who has previously worked with prestigious luxury brands, describing his inspiration for Rêverie. He continues, “I have always had a strong affinity for pareidolia – _the phenomenon of recognizing figurative shapes, animals, faces, or entire scenes in random patterns, whether in the grain of wood, marble, or, indeed, in the clouds. Salvador Dalí also had this ability and called it his ‘paranoiac-critical method.’ It seemed obvious to me to hide animals in these clouds or, depending on one’s perspective, make them visible to tell stories.”
Fürstenberg and Dimitri Rybaltchenko have designed two conical vases with the Rêverie decor to complement the dinnerware collection. Birds and butterflies in the clouds evoke dreams of a lively garden. The two vases, in sizes of 20 cm and 28 cm, can be harmoniously combined with Auréole Rêverie, Auréole in white, and other white porcelain collections by Fürstenberg.
