Alessi’s Menhir wins Coffee/Tea category at TI’s 2025 Awards of Excellence

Alessi has won the 2025 Coffee/Teaware category at Tableware International’s recent Awards of Excellence. The Menhir espresso coffee maker, designed by Michael Anastassiades reigned triumphant at the industry awards ceremony which was held at Ambiente. The award was presented to Alessi by Funda Kunduz from Zuchex.

The stainless-steel coffee maker is inspired by the hefty solidity of a megalith, hence the name. Anastassiades associated the narrative legends behind the mysterious monolith, and their attractive whiff of myth, with one of the objects closest to the idea of a cultus within the home today: the espresso coffee maker.
Renowned for creating a series of lamps with minimalist, enigmatic and poetic lines, Michael Anastassiades unexpectedly embraces a key object of Italian kitchens, affirming once again the expressive power that he injects into his projects.
The piece is made in Italy, in the Alessi factory at Crusinallo, Omegna and the judging panel described it was “architecture meeting coffee”, adding: “Menhir has everything to be a new icon in its category”.
