Maison Haviland’s newest collection – Cavalier Royal – marries exquisite design with innovative storytelling.
The Manufacture’s stylistic freedom takes us through the history of French riders, echoing a tradition that dates back to the Renaissance. Inspired by Italian horsemen, French horsemanship has moved from the realms of war and agriculture to become an art of living. Since then, in France, horse riding has been a sport and a leisure activity often elevated as a muse in the luxury world, notably with major equestrian competitions.
At Haviland, art seamlessly translates to tableware. The creative workshop has crafted a new collection under the majestic name Cavalier Royal. This prestigious collection features designs with golden lines and geometric shapes, evoking pure Andalusian tradition. This innovative work by Haviland is a tribute to the timeless elegance of the equestrian theme.
French elegance in a modern and refined expression, with tones of brown, beige, red, and gold redefining the lines of this vibrant harlequin. Playful curves, trompe l’œil effects, and imperfect asymmetries give this design a majestic feel, lending the table collection lightness and infinite elegance. The presentation plate plays with the design like a horse dancing in a carousel, combining geometric friezes and moucharabieh shapes enhanced by a spirited rearing stallion.
At the heart of this piece, the thoroughbred is adorned with a damask robe of red and gold that blooms in its center, its mane also crafted like a jewel with pompoms and arcs of circles in the same tones. This exceptional plate sets the tone for the Cavalier Royal collection, ensuring presence and refinement on any table. The dinner plate, also known as the gastronomy plate in the French art of the table, reveals itself through the magic of oval shapes and arcades sketched around the rim. A subtle play of shapes emerges through the richness of gold and colour reflections. The center of the plate is redesigned with a distinguished moucharabieh, offering a more contemporary interpretation of this piece.
