To mark the 10th anniversary of Urban Nature Culture Amsterdam, two Dutch worlds come together. The Amsterdam-based design brand and Royal Goedewaagen present an exclusive collection of vases that brings together almost four centuries of ceramic craftsmanship and contemporary design. The collection is entirely designed and made in the Netherlands.
The collaboration unites two brands, each with its own distinctive heritage. Royal Goedewaagen has been producing ceramics since 1610, making it one of Europe’s oldest ceramic manufacturers. Urban Nature Culture Amsterdam was founded in 2016 and, over the past decade, has grown into an international home & lifestyle brand with a distinctive contemporary signature.
It is precisely the meeting of these two worlds that forms the foundation of the collection: centuries-old ceramic knowledge and craftsmanship combined with a contemporary perspective on form, colour and interiors.
At Royal Goedewaagen’s factory in the Netherlands, each vase is carefully crafted by skilled artisans. Centuries of ceramic expertise provide the foundation for contemporary designs in which tradition and modern aesthetics come together naturally.
For Pauline Spin, managing director of Royal Goedewaagen, the collaboration also holds a special personal significance. Early in her career, she worked with Anne Marie Hermans, CEO of Urban Nature Culture Amsterdam, from whom she learned a great deal during that time. Years later, their paths cross once again with this anniversary collection.
“My career began working with Anne Marie, and I learned so much from her during that time. The fact that our paths are crossing again all these years later gives this collection a very personal meaning for me. It feels completely natural that her world of contemporary design and our centuries-old ceramic craftsmanship should come together at this particular moment.”
The collaboration has resulted in two new designs: Vase Kalin, available in Olive Oil and Brandy, and Vase Elin, available in Mayfly and Adobe. Sculptural forms and expressive colours give the vases a contemporary character, while each piece embodies almost four centuries of ceramic expertise.
The anniversary collection is not only a celebration of Urban Nature Culture’s first ten years, but also a tribute to Dutch craftsmanship: to both designing and making, to knowledge passed down from generation to generation, and to the ability to continually reinterpret tradition.
The collection consists of Vase Kalin (€99.99), available in Olive Oil and Brandy, and Vase Elin (€89.99), available in Mayfly and Adobe. The anniversary collection will be available through Urban Nature Culture Amsterdam from October, as well as from selected retailers in the Netherlands and internationally.
