Established in 1917, Tetou has become an intrinsic part of the fabric of life in the French Riviera. What began as a small beach front restaurant has grown into a long-established favourite, now continuing its story in Cannes, under the stewardship of the fifth generation of the founding family.
Much of what made Tetou famous remains unchanged, from its celebrated bouillabaisse recipe to its distinctive blue-and-white identity. That identity is reflected on the table as well. For many years, Tetou has relied on collections from Bauscher, with the Bonn collection playing a central role in its tabletop presentation.
The restaurant’s customised porcelain features a three-colour rim decoration together with the Tetou logo, creating pieces that have become a familiar part of the dining experience. The personalised tableware echoes details found throughout the restaurant, from the historic striped awnings to the maritime colour palette that has accompanied restaurant for generations. Rather than following short-lived trends, the design has remained consistent, creating a connection between the restaurant’s heritage and its present home on the Croisette.
Tetou shows how customised porcelain can support a restaurant’s character over time. Through its long-standing use of personalised Bauscher pieces, colours, logos and tabletop details have become part of a coherent overall appearance, demonstrating how individual decoration can help carry a restaurant’s identity across generations.
