To mark its 80th anniversary, Eisch is launching a handcrafted crystal glass collection designed for nuanced wine pairings. The distinctive step in the bowl and the unique SENSISPLUS feature are intended to enrich the tasting experience.
With TIMEFORM SENSISPLUS, Eisch is expanding its range with a handcrafted crystal glass collection that combines striking design with sensory precision. Its defining design element is an extraordinary step in the bowl: it refracts light into subtle planes and lends the glass visual depth. At the same time, it is part of the precisely calibrated bowl geometry designed from the step to the rim to bring out the aromatic nuances of different wines. To mark the manufactory’s 80th anniversary, four shapes are available: Allround/Red Wine, Burgundy, White Wine, and Champagne. Thin-walled, lightweight, and dishwasher safe, the glasses are ideal for serving high-quality wines in restaurants as well as for tastings. The characteristic step in the bowl, inspired by the aesthetics of the cut glasses created by founder Valentin Eisch, is designed to preserve the balance of fine wines. The carefully balanced proportions guide the wine harmoniously across the tongue and palate. Slender stems provide a delicate feel, while large, flat base plates ensure stability during service. Added to this is the SENSISPLUS feature, which is based on a family secret. It is designed to further refine the glass shapes – already tailored to the respective wine style – and thus enable an even more nuanced wine experience, particularly for wines with character and pronounced aromas. The glasses’ special properties are achieved without the use of chemicals. “In the SENSISPLUS glass, the wine reveals its soul to connoisseurs,” says Julia Eisch, who is responsible for design at Eisch.
Four shapes for four wine styles
The allround/red wine glass (653 ml) pairs well with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Shiraz, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, and Grenache. It is also suitable for white wines and bottle-aged sparkling wines. The Burgundy glass (868 ml) is designed for Pinot Noir, Gamay, Nebbiolo, and Chardonnay, as well as aged Riesling and oak-aged wines. For young Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer, Veltliner, and Muscadet, the collection offers a white wine glass (516 ml). The champagne glass (391 ml) is designed for sparkling wines from around the world. In both the allround and champagne glasses, an effervescence point enhances the perlage.
TIMEFORM SENSISPLUS also pays tribute to the artistic legacy of Eisch, which traces back to the glass artist Erwin Eisch (1927–2022), a co-founder of the international studio glass movement. Four artists with ties to the Bavarian Forest – Julia Eisch, Lea Kramhöller, Rainer Metzger, and Irmgard Braun-Ditzen – each interpreted a glass form in a painting. The motifs adorn, for example, the black gift tubes with snap-on lids in which each glass is traded.
