David Mellor presents a contemporary take on modernist cutlery

British brand David Mellor has introduced a new cutlery range, designed by Corin Mellor. Pavillion has been conceived as a twenty-first-century reinterpretation of two classic David Mellor designs from the 1970s, combining the clarity of British modernism with the warmth, colour and tactility of contemporary tableware. “Pavilion is rooted in David Mellor’s design heritage, but it is not nostalgic. It has the purity and restraint of modernist cutlery, combined with materials, colour and weight that feel highly contemporary,” says creative director Corin Mellor.

The new collection revisits the pioneering combination of stainless steel and resin, a technically and aesthetically innovative approach that helped define David Mellor’s 1970s designs. The range is available in three colours: white, black or green. Each handle is secured using an innovative ultrasonic-welding process and a single stainless steel rivet. The result is cutlery with a crisp modernist character and an easy confidence, equally suited to formal, design-led settings and relaxed, sociable dining spaces. Available from November 2026.
